John Day is the creator of Race Day XC, a new mountain bike race series in New England. 0:10.8	You blink and all of a sudden your kids are back in school.
0:13.4	It is the unofficial sign that summer is drawn to a close in my book when the kids go back.
0:19.1	The entire summer has been a banner season. The month of August has
0:23.5	been particularly standout. It's unintentionally been a personal saga of mind to get back onto the
0:29.2	mountain bike, getting some mountain bike races, the bicycle on which I started my cycling career.
0:34.6	You see, we have a storied history of tip-top mountain bike racing here in New England.
0:39.1	So it's been my participation of some midweek races throughout the summer,
0:43.7	some awesome longer races over some recent weekends.
0:46.7	It has been a really, really fun summer in general,
0:48.9	and mountain bike events have been particularly standout.
0:53.4	And so recently, I took part at a race in the Northeast Kingdom, the beloved kingdom
0:59.4	trails of Burke, Vermont.
1:01.9	It was one of the races of the Race Day XC Circuit, an upstart mountain bike race series that's
1:07.4	taken off here just this year.
1:09.6	And I'm being completely honest here. I was just so
1:11.9	impressed with the delivery. It was perhaps the most professionalized mountain bike race I've ever
1:16.4	been to. And then contrasted with a just incredibly grassroots atmosphere and really fun vibe.
1:22.7	So chalk it up to the branding, the marketing, the communication, the pop-up venue, the course,
1:28.9	the race itself, the before, during, and after, all of it. It was just outstanding.
