In today's Devo, Watermark member Macy Snowden

shares about her own experience wrestling with this question. And so I just want to read her

divo for us. She wrote, in early 2021, I experienced a significant crisis of belief. I had been

walking with the Lord since I was seven years old, had been a pastor's

daughter my whole life, and had been working in full-time ministry for three years. And yet,

I was crippled with anxiety as I thought, am I really saved? Though my faith in Christ had already

been sealed, I still couldn't shake the questions, doubts, and fear of dying.

I couldn't sleep at night as I begged God to assure me of my salvation through His word.

Cue the truth of 1 John 5 11 through 13.

It says,

And this is the testimony that God gave us eternal life and this life is in his son.

Whoever has the son, has life,

and whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe

in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life. And when I read this

passage, Macy said, I wept. I was overwhelmed with gratitude that I could be

confident in my faith and have complete assurance of my salvation according to this letter.

We are saved by grace through faith in Christ alone, according to scripture alone, to the glory of God alone.
