I'm Hello, and welcome back to another episode of the Year of Polygamy podcast.

0:43.5

I'm your host, Lindsay, and today I'm bringing on a very interesting scholar, Antonio Trevisan.

0:49.6

Did I say that correctly?

0:52.2

That's right. That's an Italian last name. I'm originally from Brazil, so

0:57.9

that's probably the third possible pronunciation. All right. So we're somewhat in the ballpark.

1:04.9

So Antonio, why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself and give us some background information on you first.

1:12.5

So I have a degree in translation. I've worked with a translation and copy editing and language

1:20.2

teaching back in Brazil. I've moved to the United States and here I've become production worker. I've been working in a

1:29.8

food factory for the last four months. I've done some research on Rosler Barron and his church

1:37.2

of the firstborn. I also write for a Brazilian group blog called Vosius Bormons. Yeah, that's it. So Ross LaBaron is someone we've talked about

1:47.6

a little bit. I interviewed Robert Wright Black and he talked about getting his authority from

1:51.8

Ross LeBaron and sort of shared some of the wild eccentricities of Rosslebaron that, you know,

1:57.2

he lived in a shack with a goat and things like that. So I've been wanting to talk about Ross

2:00.5

for a long time because even though he was eccentric, he is considered by many fundamentalists to be a legitimate, or at least argues a good case for a legitimate source of authority. So I'm so excited to talk about this with you. But how did you get interested in Ross Liberon?

2:17.6

Back in 2002 or three, I was coming home from my LDS mission. I served an LDS mission in Japan,

2:25.8

and I started reading about Mormon fundamentalism in general, and I was really curious. I was attracted to some ideas of Ross LeBaron,

2:39.0

and his adopted sons. I had Matt to line. And I thought it was really unique, and it was

2:47.3

something I wanted to go deeper into. Why weren't you afraid to look into that, like many traditional LDS people?

2:56.6

A good question. I don't know. I converted to the LDS church as an adult. I was 24, almost turning 25. The earliest memory I have about the name Mormon, Mormon

3:12.8

Church, was in my childhood. There was going to be a TV show about Mormon polygamy. Either

3:21.4

my parents didn't allow me to watch or there was something more interesting on TV.

3:25.9

I didn't watch, but that was something that was in the back of my mind for all my life.
