The baseball show on KFAM. I'm John Bonas of Twinsdaily.com. Next to me is Aaron Gleeman of NBCSports.com and Aaron Gleeman.com. Sponsored by Ticket King. Aaron, how are you doing today? I'm good. I had about $60 worth of fried food already. I've had about $50 just of salt.

I was shocked when I saw Johnny.

0:56.1

He didn't even have a beer in his hand. I was like, who are you? What have you done with John Bonas? I'm waiting. Immediately after this, I'm heading over to the craft brew area for the various flights of Minnesota Crafts. I might be joining you. Good. not sicken me by the end of the show. But yeah, we have a lovely crowd here to watch at the

State Fair, and it's not raining.

1:13.7

I know.

1:27.8

So that's nice, and it's not even that hot, so it's almost, you know, perfect day. I kind of figured by about 4 o'clock the big storm would roll in and scare everybody away. But they're going to let us scare everybody away. This would be great if we had a better baseball team to talk about.

1:29.7

But we don't, and we can't really change that.

1:27.8

So we're going to talk about.

1:45.4

But we don't, and we can't really change that. So we're going to talk about the bad baseball team that we have, and we might not even say much good stuff about them, but we'll talk about them for the next hour. I don't know. It's, I guess, wow, we're on year four of this, where it's just basically like playing out the string at the end of the season, and you run out a ways to just kind of say,

1:47.5

oh, are there any promising things ahead?

2:20.2

Well, and I think there's, you know, a promising stuff that we can maybe dwell on, but we should probably just dwell on what's going on in September, August and September again for the fourth year in a row. Twitters are one in five this week. Now, granted, they're facing two first place teams all week, right? They're facing the Royals. They're facing the Orioles. But it looks like they're going to have to win tomorrow to avoid a sweep by the Orioles. They barely avoided a sweep by the Royals after really having a chance to, they practically could have swept that series. Had they held on to some ninth inning or eighth inning and ninth inning leads on Tuesdays and Wednesday's game.

2:26.9

And for the fourth year in a row, what we're seeing is a fairly, well, a below average team, let's be clear.

2:37.7

But when it gets to mid-August and in September, and they really are just playing out the string, their record has gone absolutely in the tank again.

2:42.9

Yeah, and we talked about that one of the points you made, even in years where they were just merely not contending.

2:46.7

I think they finished 79 and 83 one year, but they were above 500 until the end.

2:52.3

They have a way of, or at least they did when they were good, they have a way of really charging to the finish line when they need to.

2:53.9

It is a garden hire trait.
