Summary

Scott Mugford of Blue Collar Customs is a custom car builder from Sacramento, California. In the late 90's Scott met and became friends with James Hetfield. Through their mutual love of cars they would go on to collaborate together on two amazing custom builds. One is the 1936 Ford "Iron Fist" and the other is the F-100 Str8Edge truck. Both are currently featured in the Reclaimed Rust exhibit along with 8 other Hetfield custom builds at the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles, California. These two cars will also be featured in the forthcoming Reclaimed Rust book. Scott took time away from the shop to tell us about growing up in the skate/punk rock scene in California, building his first car, meeting Hetfield and joining the Beatniks, details of building both Iron Fist and Str8Edge with Hetfield, the philosophy of cars as both pieces of art and practical driving machines and the future of Blue Collar Customs.
