That is my sigh of relief that I'm back here in this podcast speaking to you and with

you and practicing with you and it is a refuge of mine and a joy to have this time. Thank you for

meeting me here. I have a simple story. I have a simple

scripture and a practice we'll get into today. And to be totally honest, I don't know how it all

connects. My mind hasn't quite caught up with my body's intuition and my heart's knowing somewhere in my mind hasn't quite caught up with my body's intuition and my hearts knowing

somewhere in my mind I trust that we'll find bridges but I wanted to share just an

experience I had several months ago and then as I was reflecting on it a scripture that

came up and that will guide us into a practice.

I was listening to a Franciscan father named Richard Roar.

So far as Franciscans go, he is a rather well-known Franciscan. You might have heard of him.

You might have read his books, heard his sermons.

It's a beautiful exemplar of the Christian tradition. And he was speaking to all of us about

Christianity in the 21st century. And it was kind of an offhand comment he made. One of those

things you say almost on your way to saying something else that really struck me. And I think I

remember it verbatim. And I want to start off the episode today by talking about this. So the

context is, whether you've heard of Father Orr's teachings or not,

this is a man who has been thoroughly steeped in the Christian tradition for, I want to say,

more than, well, he's, I think, over 80 years old now in the twilight of his life,

but still has a lot of fire at that but this is a man
