You know, honest about arguments, especially online arguments, but arguments in general,

if I can't sum up your point of view, let's say we disagree about something, if I can't

fairly say, here's where you're coming from, I believe, and you recognize that, and we

have a problem.

Yes.

If I can't do that, and I was reading where that's a consistent issue, it was in Jonathan

Heights, the New York University, we just talked about how that's a consistent issue is the

inability of people to acknowledge the other person.

You can think they're wrong, but if you don't understand what the, like if you just talk

past it.

Yes.

And so it makes people go, I can't agree with you because you haven't addressed what

I'm saying.

Right.

I see a lot of that.

It's a reminder to me, I'm sure I am being fair to the other person's viewpoint, at least

so, if I do reject it, and I may.

But I think when you use that, when you are paying attention and you understand the

point of view, it takes a lot of that bite of out of what you're doing.
