It's been so sweet to join you these past few days and tomorrow it'll go right back to Emma.

But today we've started a new book, First John, and this apostolic letter

speaks a lot about the incarnation of Christ. For some of us, that's just a big confusing word,

and for others it might seem like, oh, I got this word. Yet when we talk about the incarnation

of Christ, the reality that Jesus, the Son of God, took

on human flesh, dwelt on earth with us, I think sometimes we've lost the weight of that.

And this is the idea that John chooses to start off the letter with.

The basis and foundation of what he talks about next, God becoming flesh.

He says he's heard him, seen him, touched him with his own hands.

These men personally witnessed and was with Christ. And now they're writing about it to tell us

so that our joy may be complete. I mean, I look at John 14, verses 8 and 9.

Philip said to him, Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us. And Jesus said to him,

Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen

the Father. And how can you say,

show us the father? For the first time, God chose to reveal himself through man. So I want to do

something that might seem strange. Now, keep in mind, you already know how long the podcast is,

so don't click off, take a second. I don't know where you are or what

you're doing, but would you take a second and consider the incarnation of Christ? That's a strange

ask, isn't it? Christ being on the earth, fully God, fully man. And if you're by yourself,
