Kati, what's up? Kati? Oh right, Kati's not here this week. She has not for the first

time decided to drive across the country rather than fly like a normal person. I believe

this is because her dog Moose is on the terrorist watchlist and therefore cannot fly.

So it's Moose, Kati and Kati's wife, Janna, puttering their way across the country in

a giant van as they are battered repeatedly by giant blizzards. It's basically the organ

trail but much more dangerous and it would shock me if there hasn't been a dysentery outbreak

yet. Also, apparently, and I am not making this up, Kati and her wife both lost their

wallets. They're not home yet. They're in the middle of wherever without their wallets.

So I'm not sure how they're going to get back home and I am working on drawing up a list

of potential replacement hosts. Anyway, I'm running the show this week and I decided to give

this episode over to an interview I did with Hannah Barnes about her recently released

book Time to Think, the inside story of the collapse of the Tabestock's Gender Service

for Children. Hannah works at BBC News Night where for years she has spearheaded its coverage

of youth gender medicine at the National Health Service. As her book jacket explains,

that coverage, quote, helped precipitate an extensive NHS review and unearthed evidence

that was later used in several sets of legal proceedings. News nights reporting also

led directly to an inspection by the health care regulator of the Care Quality Commission,

which branded JIDS, the NHS's only youth gender clinic in England inadequate. The work

was nominated for an array of awards, including the prestigious RTS Television Journalism Awards.

So the JIDS clinic is being shut down and it's being replaced with smaller regional clinics

and different locations. This episode is a little different from what we usually do around
