Today we're going to talk about something a little bit different.

I'm actually going to be interviewing people that come from the Restoration or Joseph Smith's teachings who are not polygamous. Now we've done this before.

We've had some remnant followers and LDS folks on here before. But because we've been covering

all these different traditions in the restoration, I wanted to highlight one that I think that I've

left out. I've had plenty of their members come on the podcast because their church

puts out really great Mormon historians, but we haven't really focused on the community of Christ

before. Community of Christ, most people will know as the RLDS church, not FLDS, not Warren

Jeff's polygamous church, but RLDS, who most Mormons would know are the people who

stayed in Navu with Emma Smith, Joseph Smith's wife. They never came across with Brigham Young.

We've covered this history that Brigham Young and Emma had a very bitter struggle. Emma, of course,

stays in Navu and eventually founds church or, in her mind, was, you know, keeping the lights on of the legacy that her husband restored.

I have come to know members of the community of Christ over the years, and they have, what I credit, helped me retain my faith in God.

So when I went through my whole faith crisis as an LDS person with this podcast,

you know, thinking, well, maybe everything in Mormonism is terrible and awful and weird.

And the community of Christ, apostles and leaders and congregants were

really great to work with me and my questions on it and although I'm not a member of their church

I really really value their take on things because what I've seen them do is take some of the

things that I found

harmful or harmful to me in Mormonism and reinterpreted them in a way that I think is beautiful

and healthy and inclusive and doesn't marginalize people and it also doesn't ask anyone to give up
