excited to be joined today by Ryan Grimm, he is of course a colleague of mine, co-host of

counterpoints, also journalist and author of a new book

the Squad AOC and the hope of a political revolution.

Thanks for having me on here.

So I feel like there was a chance that this book came out

and it kind of got like totally overshadowed

because of what's going on in his real thousand and all ice are there

etc etc.

But it's actually amazing how much of this book pertains to

Israel, Israel politics and AIPAC and Democratic majority for Israel and how much that has shaped the squad and the opposition to the

squad. So just talk to us about the original idea for the book and some of those

threads that run through. Yeah and when I finished the book I thought when people read this

they're going to think I'm crazy for how much I focused on the role of

Israel Palestine as an issue and how it shaped Democratic Party politics and the Squad itself and how much I focused

on DMFI and Mark Melman, the guy who founded that, you know, Reed Hoffman, our old friend,

who kind of allied with them to spend money against the squad and other

progressives and then the rise of AIPAC in 2021.

DMFI kind of an offshoot of AIPAC but then APAC itself comes in in 2022 with a 30, 40 million dollar spend.

So I thought people would be like, okay, that's kind of interesting, but it's a side issue.

It doesn't deserve to be kind of half of the book but as this war has unfolded and

as a pack has announced you know that or that has kind of signal that they're gonna
