The Best Games from 1994. Welcome to the Dice Tower, a podcast about board games and card games, but especially the people who play them.

In this episode, we'll be talking about the best games from 15 years ago, 1994.

And now, here are your hosts, planning their own game convention,

the meeting up of acquaintances, Tom Vassel, and Sam Healy.

I think maybe Eric said that last year.

I can't remember now.

Or something very similar to it.

For those of you who may not understand what he's talking about, real briefly, there is a

gathering of friends, it's called.

Alan Moon, who's a pretty famous board game designer, designed tickets to ride for one,

has a convention.

I think he's been running it for 15 or so years in Columbus, Ohio, and he invites his friends to come play with him, and it's called Gather Your Friends. It's grown over the years, and about five years ago, it was probably the biggest newsworthy convention other than Essen, because all the new games from Essen came to the Gather Your Friends, and they got to play them and then everyone,

we read about them and it was kind of an exciting thing.

It's a little less interesting from an outsider's perspective.

I'm sure it would be fun to go there and play games,

but like when I read the reports this year,

I found pretty much nothing that really piqued my interest other than stuff that we've already played mostly.
