Well, hello my friends this week we are doing something completely

different as I mentioned on last week's show at the end of last year I asked you what you'd like to see happen on Ask Science Mike,

how you like the format, and what I got overwhelmingly was you love the existing format and

you love the live shows, but you'd like me to shake things up a bit by doing different types of

episodes like sharing my thoughts on current events which I did last week or

having conversations with other people, theologians, scientists,

secularists. And so that's what I'm doing this week and this week is a conversation with Bart Campoolo.

Now if you've never heard of Bart. He is a secular humanist community builder.

He's done that as a chaplain at USC.

He's currently doing that by doing some community building work in Cincinnati. And I would call him a secular pastor. He's got an

incredible pastoral heart. He cares deeply about the kinds of psychological and emotional gratifications people got

from religion and doesn't minimize those things.

So he's completely post-Christian, he's not religious, and we had a fascinating

multi-hour conversation that you can hear in this episode. This is much longer than a

normal episode of As night's Mike, so I don't think you're going to finish this one

in one commute.

This will be an episode that you pause and return to and that's fine.
