Francois L'Olone and his crew for example, they were alive when this story took place,

most of it. Some of them were living in France when this story took place.

Now France was the most populous nation in Europe, so most of them probably didn't see this take place as it's fairly localized in and around Paris and Orléans, but this would have shaped their worldview.

It would have been something that was a formative political experience for them.
