How do you interpret magic used in video games that led to a long discussion thread on what exactly is magic as the Bible refers to it?

Can you and the crew elaborate on what this magic is? Then I went and did a little search and found how many places the word magic comes up in the Bible.

And it was actually more than I more than I thought it comes up quite a bit including and this is interesting the story of Simon the magician from Acts chapter eight.

But there was a man named Simon who had previously practiced magic in the city and amazed the people of Samaria saying that he himself was somebody great.

So there is we've established there is magic in the Bible. Yeah, which is accessing supernatural forces.

Because we also believe that miracles would qualify it. That's what magic. That's what we're taking a modern term and trying to retroactively apply it to things which one's the modern term.

Well, the way we typically use magic. Whether we mean the illusionist entertainment and Vegas kind of magic. That would mean but the magic that is tapping into supernatural forces to and controlling them.

And Simon the magician would saw a woman in half probably impress the Samarians. No, okay. Not in the way we would think. But he could turn a staff into a serpent. Maybe.

Because there were magicians that did mimic the magic. And which is where the word magi comes from. Right. Where the word magic comes from. Which one came first?

Magi or magicians. It's it. Okay. So here's in the ancient world like you see this in the in the story of the Exodus where the Egyptian Pharaoh had magicians.

That's right who contended with Moses. Yeah. These are often seen as advisors to royalty. As the magi were in the in the Nativity story who are very knowledgeable and wise. And often that what they would use is some kind of divination.

Meaning activities that would give them the ability to understand the times or predict the future. So astrology for example, which is what the magic I did when I looked up into the stars and they saw that.

A king has been born in Israel. We're going to go check it out or more common in the ancient world was sacrificing animals and then taking out their organs and reading their entrails reading their entrails to try to understand well, are we going to have victory in this war or not or what you do.
