What is up, you spooky bitches? We are back with another episode of the Hello Sydney podcast here,

a podcast for horror lovers where we discuss any and all things horror. And it's me, your girl,

Sydney, wearing my brand new Stephen King sweatshirt. If you guys are watching the video episode,

it says based on the novel by Stephen King. I got it off some random website. I am like the target audience for Instagram ads,

like when they put up ads for clothes or literally for whatever, I most likely will buy it.

So I saw this and it took me about three and a half seconds to buy it from some like

sketchy sounding website. But I always take my chances. And honestly, it ends up fine because

look, I got it. So it's my new

favorite sweatshirt. I love it. Would have been really appropriate if I had this during Stephen King

month. But it's okay because we're going to have another Stephen King month. So we'll just use it then.

It's totally fine. Today we're continuing our conversation we've been having about

friends giving and friends getting themselves

into really bad situations that they somehow have to find a way out of, find a way to defeat

said thing. Sometimes they turn on each other. And this movie is an example of that because at the

end, we're going to have some people turn on each other here and I think

the choices that are made are interesting but the cabin in the woods is kind of a black comedy like

it's it's a satire and it's very meta and I feel like it's the first movie that came out since

scream to do meta and to do it completely right.

I love how self-aware this movie is. I love how they take their classic, like your classic

cabin in the wood story and make it something totally different. I remember the first time watching

this movie genuinely being surprised, like genuinely being shot. Because you hear the name of it. And I remember when the trailers came out for this, like it made it seem like it was just a cabin in the woods movie. Like, oh, these kids are going to a cabin in the woods. They're going to read some stupid shit in the basement, rise this zombie family and be attacked. Like, that's the formula of so many different horror movies but no this one completely turns it on its head
