Hey everybody and welcome back to another Pink Bike podcast. I'm Mike Levy, and we're recording this from

Crankworks in Whistler, BC, where many of the world's best riders and racers have come together

to throw down for the week. And while crankworks definitely isn't a trade show, there are plenty of

brands and brand people here for us to talk to. So we should probably do exactly that. Today I've

got Maxis's Aaron Chamberlain with me because we're going to talk all things, tires from technology,

construction, to challenges and testing to why tires cost as much as they do and a whole bunch

of other stuff. But first, Aaron, thanks for coming on. And what is your job title before we get into

this? Thanks for having me, Mike. It's great to be here. It's great to be back in Whistler after a three-year absence.

So, yeah, super stoked to be back.

Yeah, so I guess my title, we do a lot of different things.

We're a fairly small team overall, but basically the global marketing manager for all

things bicycle.

That does sound very serious.

It does. Global marketing manager. Don't don't do the whole world. Right. Are you ready for some

tough questions today? I am. Okay. Let's go. Let's do it. Okay. I want to start with the question that

everybody probably wants me to ask you. So I think a lot of people, me included, we look at these tire

prices and we think like, how the heck can these things cost so much? Of course, people love to compare the tire

prices of for bike tires to car tires, which isn't fair. They're very, very different things.

And I don't expect like a full breakdown or anything, but why do pretty much everybody's tires

cost so much

money? What are the factors going in here that make these things cost $100 or more?
