Gaz's most recent album, World Strongest Man, was released to rave reviews in early May 2018 and we met

with him backstage at Liverpool's art club on a beautifully sunny afternoon in our

hometown when he was passing through. Gaz was born in Oxford, England in 1976.

His mom was an English teacher and his dad was a food scientist who also played jazz piano.

He lived in San Francisco from the ages of five to nine, returning to Oxford in 1985.

Guys played classical piano as a boy, but all that changed when he received his first guitar around the age of 12.

He met drummer Danny Gophi at secondary school and the two began playing together.

Along with Danny, he first entered the music world as lead singer of the band The Jennifer's

and toured the UK with them while still only 15.

Apparently when they signed their record contract Gazza's mom had to sign for him as he was still under age.

The Jennifer's disbanded in 1992 after releasing one single, but Gazz would play their demos over the

PA at the pub where he worked and they caught the ear of bassist Mickey Quinn.

Supergrass, originally Theodore Supergrass, was formed in 1993 and

success came fast. They signed a parlophone in 1994 when Gaz was still only 18.
