| 0:00.0 | Hey friends, welcome to the Raising Boys and Girls Podcast. I'm Sissy Gough. |
| 0:13.6 | And I'm David Thomas. And I'm Melissa Trevathan. And we're so glad you joined us for this conversation. |
| 0:20.0 | Let's dive in. |
| 0:22.0 | Well, hey David Thomas. Hey Sissy Gough. I'm so excited to circle back. I always feel bad when we talk about who kids are and we don't respond with what they need because we're kind of leaving people hanging a little. |
| 0:40.0 | We did leave them hanging, but I'm hoping everybody came back this week because we're going to move toward what they need. |
| 0:47.0 | But first, let's tell some fun stories about stage one kids. Do you have a good one? |
| 0:55.0 | I think I might because one of my favorite stage one kids in my lifetime is this amazing little sister of mine who is now a rock star entrepreneur and mom and all these things, but you all likely know if you have ever heard us talk about anything. |
| 1:13.0 | Kathleen so much 16 years younger than I am. And so when she was born, I've told the story on here a million times. But if you're new to the podcast, just so you understand when she was born, when my mom said to me, we're pregnant. |
| 1:29.0 | The first response was I didn't know you all still did that to my parents, because you know, when you're 16, all the things we're going to talk about when we get to that stage of life. |
| 1:38.0 | And so just to give you a little perspective on Kathleen at that time, she was like the mascot of my group of friends. She went everywhere with us. |
| 1:47.0 | My parents were 43 when she was born. And so there appears back in the 80s weren't really having kids of their own. And so she just was literally the delight of everyone that she was around. She had these beautiful blonde ringlets she just couldn't have been any cuter. |
| 2:04.0 | I remember one of my favorite stories about Kathleen when she was just about to come out of stage one in her discovery years, my mom was out running errands in our neighborhood, the heights and literal Arkansas took her to the Heights jewelry store and set her up on the counter. |
| 2:20.0 | And this woman walked over to Kathleen who worked there and she said, well, you are precious. What is your name? And she said, I forgot to say she had a really great list. |
| 2:30.0 | She said, well, my real name is Kathleen, but most people call me sweetheart. |
| 2:37.0 | Oh, my favorite sweetheart so much. |
| 2:42.0 | And she was and we're going to talk about that in a girl's life, the importance of those things, sweetheart. I also, by the way, loved when she said my name back then, because I was |
| 2:52.0 | really fun. |
| 2:54.0 | She was and she is. She's still a sweetheart. |
| 2:57.0 | She is something amazing that Kathleen. |
| 3:01.0 | I know. Okay, tell me about you. What about the boys or a little? |
| 3:05.0 | Well, the hearing you tell the three heart story makes me think of a story to when the boys, when my twin boys moved into toddler beds, my wife and I would go in to do the little nighttime ritual. |
| 3:18.0 | You would kind of swap out. One of us would sit near one of their beds and we would, you know, read stories, do prayers, all the things. And then we would swap and have time with the other and I will never forget night. |
