Nick and Vanessa broke up. Did they? Yes. Thank God. That... A couple never made sense. No, the couple never, ever made sense. I don't know. Why did he pick her, do you think? The family thing. Like, that she was family-oriented, and that's what he was looking for. But I didn I think that's what... But she lived in Canada.

0:23.3

And was totally unwilling to move to the United States.

0:28.6

And like, I think that's what he convinced himself he was looking for because he's like,

0:32.3

what in his late 30s and needs to be an adult.

0:35.5

So he was like, I need to find someone who wants to settle down.

0:39.1

Raven could have settled down and at least been funny.

0:39.9

Vanessa. Although Raven, when she showed up in Rachel's season, that time of the beginning, it was

0:44.8

very good and very funny.

0:46.5

However, Rachel's season.

0:48.6

Did you watch the finale finally?

0:50.6

Yes.

0:51.9

Rachel, what did you think of?

0:53.1

What?

0:53.6

And like I read a good piece that was like, why Peter is really the bad guy. And it was like, no, I disagree. I'm sorry, I'm going to take the side of the man who doesn't have cheek implants. The man who has not been on other dating reality shows. Did you know, though, that Peter in his high school yearbook, like when you write down, like, what you want to do, like your senior, you know, senior plans or whatever, they ask you, like, okay. He was like, I'd like to be The Bachelor on TV. Oh, that's really cute. I hope he gets to be The Bachelor. I think he gets to be it, too, but I don't know. Rachel really undercut him in that finale. Yeah, well, to me, it's just so much based around the confines in the context of the show. Yes. Right? Because, like, they filmed that show over, like, what, three weeks? Six at the most. Six at the very most. And, like, six weeks is not a long time to get to know somebody. And especially not to propose marriage. Well, and you're, and let me be clear, the show might be six weeks at the most, but you're not spending full time with that one person over six weeks. That's not like you're spending every day with that person. You're seeing them, what, twice a week, maybe for six weeks?

2:01.3

I think Peter said, we've been on three dates.

2:03.4

Yeah.

2:03.5

Like, I'm not ready to propose. And, like, he's right. Yeah. And, like, I like Rachel and I've liked Rachel from the beginning. Sure. But I think she kind of bought into the structure of the show a little too much. Did you see her face when he proposed and it was really more excitement over the ring?

2:01.9

It was like...

2:02.7

Those hideous... show a little too much. Did you see her face when he proposed and it was really more excitement

2:18.4

over the ring? It was like... Those hideous Neil Lane rings. They're so ugly. They're so

2:23.2

bad. We're never going to get that Neil Lane sponsorship now. Darn. Welcome to episode 135 of From the Front Porch, a collection of conversations on books, small business,

2:52.0

and life in the South. My name is Chris Jensen and nothing stays the same. And I'm Annie Jones,
