And today we're going to talk about Ben's background and his story,

just so you know who this person is that's going to come on from time to time

to tell stuff. But Ben, you're a lawyer, right?

Yes. I'm the managing partner at Schaefer and Briny Law in Spanish Fork.

So Briney, is that with Drew Briney, the Mormon historian that documents Mormon fundamentalism?

Yes, indeed. In fact, I was a history major in college, and I focused on the

history of the West, which of course meant that I focused a lot on Mormon history. I went to

Southern Utah University, and it was my connection to reading a couple of Drew Brine's books

that got me in contact with him when I was thinking about going to law school.

And so he was one of the first people I applied with when I graduated from law school and thought, well, if I'm going to set up a private practice, I wonder who I should be practicing law with.

And so I called up Drew and I said, so I'm your new partner.

And he said, really?

Who are you? So anyways, we had a good, we had a few good conversations and then we became law partners. That is so great. I didn't know that you knew him and he's come to Sunstone a few

times and he's brilliant. He's a really good historian too too yeah and and it's kind of interesting because

I was of course interested in the law but it was really history that was how we connected in

the first place yeah that's interesting we'll have to we'll have to get him on this podcast at

some point I think that would be a great idea. I think you'd be willing.
