0:00.0	Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of the Detroit Lions Breakdown podcast. My name is Eric Schlett of USA Today Lions Wire and this is the official podcast of USA Today Lions Wire. My podcast partner, Joe Kenya, is out of town for work. So he's unable to join us today.
0:21.1	So this will just be me going solo.
0:23.1	I'm going to try and get you guys as much information as possible.
0:26.6	It'll probably be a shorter podcast than normal with Joe, not here,
0:30.9	and I'll try not to ramble on too much and keep you informed as much as I possibly can.
0:38.1	So I guess the big news we should start out talking about is the fact that the Ford's
0:44.2	announced this week that Matt Patricia and Bob Quinn are going to be retained through
0:50.0	at least 2020.
0:51.8	And what does that mean?
0:58.3	Mrs. Ford put expectations on that saying that she was expecting them to be playoff contenders and I think there's been a, I mean, people
1:06.5	are going to interpret that different ways and that's fine. But from my understanding and the way that I'm interpreting it is it's not going to be
1:14.9	as much about record as much as it is about being competitive at this time of the year
1:19.8	next year.
1:21.1	We've hit Thanksgiving mark this year and the Lions competitiveness was out the window
1:27.4	because they were not available to
1:29.1	make the playoffs at that point anymore.
1:31.9	They're hoping to have a more competitive team overall.
1:36.0	Now, injuries played a factor this year, but there was also coaching decisions, and, you know,
1:46.6	there were some bad breaks early in the season that cost them wins.
1:48.5	And so a whole variety of things that go along with this that have, you know, had a cumulative
1:54.8	effect on the disappointing season that is 2019.
1:58.8	But next year, they're basically saying the excuses aren't going to be
