Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of the Detroit Lions Breakdown podcast. My name is Eric Schlett of USA Today Lions Wire and this is the official podcast of USA Today Lions Wire. My podcast partner, Joe Kenya, is out of town for work. So he's unable to join us today.

So I guess the big news we should start out talking about is the fact that the Ford's

announced this week that Matt Patricia and Bob Quinn are going to be retained through

at least 2020.

And what does that mean?

Mrs. Ford put expectations on that saying that she was expecting them to be playoff contenders and I think there's been a, I mean, people

are going to interpret that different ways and that's fine. But from my understanding and the way that I'm interpreting it is it's not going to be

as much about record as much as it is about being competitive at this time of the year

next year.

We've hit Thanksgiving mark this year and the Lions competitiveness was out the window

because they were not available to

make the playoffs at that point anymore.

They're hoping to have a more competitive team overall.

Now, injuries played a factor this year, but there was also coaching decisions, and, you know,
