Today we're going to be talking about the mysterious disappearance of Air Force Captain William Hughes in 1983.

Okay. So William Howard Hughes, Jr. was born in 1950 in Seattle, Washington.

And he had three sisters, and his father, William Hughes, senior worked in the airline industry.

So he was interested in flying planes, his whole childhood. It's what he grew up around.

Okay.

In 1973, after graduating from school, 23-year-old Hughes enlisted in the Air Force,

and in 1976, he was commissioned as an officer.
