A few weeks ago at staff prayer, our weekly all-staff meeting, we spent some extended time studying, praying through, and talking about Hebrews 1. And the question we as a staff

were prompted with was this, who is Jesus? And so as I went away from my 25 minutes to reflect on the

chapter personally, I just started making some observations asking, what do I notice? And I noticed in verses 1 through 3,

there's this question being answered. And that question is, how does God speak? And so in verses

one and two, how God speaks in the past through prophets many times in many ways. And then through

the prophets, plural, God moves from speaking through them to speaking

through Christ, singular. God, who created the universe now speaks. And I was reminded of John

1. In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God. He was in

the beginning with God. Through him, all things were made, and the word was God. He was in the beginning with God.

Through him, all things were made.

And without him, nothing has been made that was made.

I mean, in the beginning, God spoke and things started existing.

And things are also kept by His word.

I see in Hebrews 1, verse 3.

And I'm reminded again of another passage, Colossians 1, that Christ holds all things together.

And so as I was posed as a staff with this question, who is Jesus or what's God like?

We can look to Jesus, the word made flesh.

And as I began to just think through, hey, what might it look

like for Emma, for me to live differently because of this chapter? I started to synthesize some
