Last Saturday, Amy and I were looking for something to do, and we heard Emmylou Harris was putting on an event down on 16th Street here in Nashville.

And we show up and it's Emmylou Harris, Buddy Miller, Mary Gosey, Sam Bush, Rodney Crowell,

and a whole lot of other folks just playing live for you. They're set up on the sidewalk

in the middle of the day and it felt like being at somebody's backyard party. It's a real small, intimate event.

The reason for this shindig was Emmy Lou Harris started an organization, it's a nonprofit organization called Bonaparte's Retreat,

and they rescued dogs who are deemed unadoptable from the Nashville Humane Society or from Nashville Animal Control.

These dogs have nowhere else to go, so her and the folks who work with her take them in,

and they were out there playing that day to try to raise a little bit of awareness

so that folks might adopt some of these dogs, or maybe chip in a little bit of money to help out.
