I'm just coming home from the hospital a couple of days ago.

My wife delivered a baby, beautiful baby boy, and I'm just resting in the newness of all things.

And I thought it might be nice to share a story from the labor it is a beautiful application of this practice that we all shared

together and I hope love this is a practice that I love.

And I will say in advance, it could be quite messy.

I like to really run through my ideas and show notes with a fine-tooth comb.

And there's something about this week and this particular episode and story that feel

quite raw to me. So I felt it would be appropriate to offer in raw form. For those of you who have

been through labor and delivery process with a loved one, I think the

details will be naturally interesting, maybe even fascinating. And for anybody who has never

been through the process, it is my job as a storyteller to make it interesting and to promise you that it ties back to your

mindfulness practice. So without further ado, I'll jump into some of the details and try to offer

only the most important ones, but it was just a week ago today, actually. My wife and I were up the canyon because one of our teachers said that a change in barometric pressure might help get things going.

I don't know if that's an old wife's tale, but sure enough, Glove's first contractions were up at Silver Lake, up big Cottonwood Canyon in Utah, a gorgeous setting.

Through that evening, she continued with her contractions, kind of sporadic, nothing too regular yet.

By 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.
