0:45.3	On April 10th, President Joe Biden signed a bill from Congress immediately ending the
0:49.2	COVID-19 National Emergency, which has been in place since the spring of 2020.
0:54.0	The end of the National Emergency means the end of some blanket waiver is for federal
0:57.7	health programs that were intended to help health care providers at the height of the pandemic.
1:02.7	The National Emergency is different from the public health emergency, which enables the
1:06.8	government to provide Americans with COVID-19 vaccines, treatments, and tests at no charge.
1:12.4	That remains in place until May 11th, when it will be officially terminated.
1:16.2	But anyway, you look at it.
1:17.7	The U.S. government has decided that the pandemic is over.
1:21.6	In the meantime, a new COVID-19 sub variant, XBB1.16, also known as Arcturus, is now
1:27.8	in 29 countries and appears to be behind a surge of cases in India.
1:32.2	As Dr. Ostrome has said countless times, we may be done with the virus, but it isn't
1:37.0	done with us.
