June 22nd, otherwise known as the day after the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere or the

longest day of the year or the day that a lot of mountain bikers choose for their longest and

most difficult rides, otherwise known as the best day for the dumbest adventures.

So that's what we're going to talk about on today's show, not just solstice rides, but

some of our big, dumb adventures.

But before we get to that, Sarah Moore, do you know what day the summer solstice falls on for people in the southern hemisphere?

Okay. Is it December 21st? Is that summer?

Oh, you're so close. It's the 22nd.

Okay, yeah, it kind of changes every year.

It can be 20 of 21st or 22nd, I think. Yeah, I think that's true. I think it does change.

I don't know if it has to do with the moon or what, but yeah, it changes every year.

I think it's the moon and the tides and the rotation of planet 9 and those things.

Hey, Cass, do you know much about the history of the summer solstice?

No.

I know that, you mean like how people celebrate?

Well, strap in, Cass, because we're going to learn about it today.

Let's hear some media history.

Well, so I only thought about it as, you know, the day with the most sunlight for us to do our big, dumb adventures.

But obviously, because it's the longest day of the year, it's a pretty big deal for a lot of people and cultures and religions since forever, which makes a ton of sense.

So lots of traditions have festivities where they get together for singing and

dancing and too much food, burning things, Kaz, and then they jump over the burning things.
