Summary

Due to a recent bout of pneumonia, I need to take some time to focus on my health. I'm taking a sabbatical for the next few weeks and releasing two of my favorite episodes from the archives that you might have missed. Today's episode is one of the most popular ever, and summer seems like the perfect time to re-release it! It's the season of barbecues, picnics, weddings, festivals, and an increase in social events overall. When you're following a diet like the paleo autoimmune protocol, how do you manage it? Some people make the mistake of giving up their social life altogether. Today, I have 3 experienced AIP-ers on the podcast to share their tips for having a full and fun social life while still staying true to your healing diet. It can be done! I actually caught it from a hot tub.

1:09.3

Apparently there is a strain of pneumonia that breeds in hot tubs, and healthy people can breathe it in through the misty vapor and not get an infection.

1:19.7

And people like myself who have a compromised immune system are vulnerable and can get an infection, which is exactly what happened to me. So that will be my last

1:30.4

hot tub experience, and that was a hard lesson learned. For those of you who have had pneumonia

1:36.4

before, you'll know that it sets you back for a while. I am on antibiotics. I am on the mend,

1:42.9

but the fatigue is intense and work is simply not possible at the

1:48.2

level that I usually do. So I am going to give myself some grace and release two best of episodes

1:55.1

this summer instead of trying to record new episodes and edit them while I'm sick. So today is the first of those.

2:03.7

I pulled an episode from the archive. That's one of my favorites. It's one of the most popular ones,

2:08.4

and it's perfect for this time of year. It's called Social Lives on the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol.

2:14.3

It's summertime in the Northern Hemisphere. I know for a lot of you, you've got a lot of

2:18.4

barbecues and family picnics and different social events that you'll be attending and you might

2:23.8

wonder how you can do that and still stay healthy. So this podcast is full of great tips on how to do
