funeral of one of her husband's battle buddies who died by suicide.

Operation Resiliency is an innovative solution to a problem unique to the veteran community

each year, Anthony, more than 6,000 veterans died by suicide.

That's right.

24 a day is the number that we're getting now from independent contractors instead of

just the VA.

It's a big problem.

What Operation Resiliency does is targets units that had a particularly rough time either

in combat or after with suicides or both, and bring them back together for a four-day

weekend of camaraderie and to rebuild those bonds and brotherhood.

You're going to hear about it some of it today and today's show, but it's a really good

way of reconnecting people, giving them control back over the lives.

It's a non-clinical setting, veterans participate in workshops, physical activity, peer-to-peer

support, and I've met with several of these units that have been through it, and the

guys are still super close to each other now, years later.

It's a really good program.
