Last week I discussed some of the troubles Silas Dean had in France trying to get military

supplies and French officers to America. Around the same time

Silas Dean was trying to get the first ships out of port in November 1776, a man

named James Aiken knocked on his door.

Aiken told Dean that he fought for the British under Lord Dunmore in Virginia the year before.
