When Detroit mob boss Blackbill Toco was arrested for tax evasion in 1936, his brother-in-law,

Joseph Zarelli, was appointed boss. Zarelli successfully ran the Detroit mob for the next 41 years,

passing away in 1977 without ever admitting he had any involvement with organized crime in Detroit,

and with his passing, leadership was transferred onto his nephew, Jack Toco.

The secrecy surrounding the Detroit Mafia is without equal anywhere else in the United States,

but this isn't by accident. Their strict code of keeping membership exclusively within the family

has been the key to their success and unparalleled loyalty for nearly 100 years.
