And the Hey folks, welcome to another episode of the Soda Jerker Podcast. Joining us today is a fine US-born singer-songwriter who blends

pop, rock, jazz, bluegrass and country to forger style very much of her own. She's also a fiercely independent artist whose belief in her own talent

and determination to succeed are an example to anyone who wants to pursue a lasting career in

music. She released their fifth album, Bloom, early in 2017,

which received great reviews and Amply demonstrated

their continued improvements as a song greater,

and she was pretty damn good to begin with.

We're very pleased to welcome the excellent Nell Bryden

to the show.

That we are and she'll be with us in just a few moments.

Nell was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1977 to an opera singing mother and an artist sculptor father.

Clearly they were a very cultured family so it's not hard

to see why Nell ended up pursuing a career in the arts herself. As a baby her mother took her

on tour with her

so perhaps that was also where she caught the performing bug. I think she actually ended up on stage at Carnegie Hall,

whilst didn't use her road, didn't she?

Right, a nice debut. Yeah. By the age of seven now was playing piano, cello and violin. She'd also sung since she was practically a baby but didn't get serious about it until she was around 18.

She was apparently quite a restless musical spirit trying her hand at jazz, opera and classical. After graduating high school she spent time trying to get hand at jazz, opera and classical.

After graduating high school she spent time traveling the world,

during which time she also took up the guitar,

so this was quite a formative period for her

as a fledgling songwriter.
