Nell was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1977 to an opera singing mother and an artist sculptor father.

Clearly they were a very cultured family so it's not hard

to see why Nell ended up pursuing a career in the arts herself. As a baby her mother took her

so perhaps that was also where she caught the performing bug. I think she actually ended up on stage at Carnegie Hall,

Right, a nice debut. Yeah. By the age of seven now was playing piano, cello and violin. She'd also sung since she was practically a baby but didn't get serious about it until she was around 18.

She was apparently quite a restless musical spirit trying her hand at jazz, opera and classical. After graduating high school she spent time trying to get hand at jazz, opera and classical.

After graduating high school she spent time traveling the world,

during which time she also took up the guitar,
