Hello and welcome to rock and roll politics, the weekly podcast with me, Steve Richards.

0:14.3

Over the last few days, again, there has been revived talk of a new political party,

0:20.4

apparently when Vince Cable, unfortunately missed a key Commons Brexit vote,

0:26.4

he was at a meeting talking about this very topic.

0:29.8

Others raise it on a regular basis.

0:33.1

I'm quite sceptical in many respects.

0:36.0

1:49.7

organised the annual politics festival at King's Place.

1:53.3

And one of the best events, I think, to our surprise to some extent,

1:57.4

because you spend a lot of time booking people like John Major who came along

2:02.9

and other big names, cabinet ministers and kind of shadow foreign secretary came along

2:09.9

and all the rest of it. It takes a long time. But the discussion we had about whether a new

2:15.4

party should be formed, could be formed.
