Summary

It’s a festive special! Graeme Hall talks through what he thinks about special doggy chocolate, the best presents you can buy to keep your dog mentally stimulated throughout the day, and how to make sure your dog isn’t overwhelmed by extra (energetic!) people in the house. Plus, he explains how to teach the ‘leave’ command ahead of Christmas just in case your dog starts to get curious about picking decorations and food off the floor… Do you have a question for The Dogfather? Send Graeme a voice note and a video of your pesky pooch to [email protected].

Hello and welcome to this my special Christmas edition of Talking Dogs. I'm Graham Hall,

0:14.1

but you can call me the Dogfather if you like. Over the last 10 years, I've helped train loads of dogs and people alike,

0:20.0

and you might as

0:20.9

can't be doing just that on television's dogs behaving very badly.

0:24.7

Well, now I'm here too, sharing my advice and experience with you directly on this podcast.

phrase because back then there was a real pattern of people taking

1:11.4

dogs from rehome shelters in December and then they would all come back between January and

1:16.3

March which was about the time it took for people to get fed up of this new puppy that they'd

1:20.6

got and not thought through and so up came the phrase. Things have changed a lot since 1978

1:25.9

and things are on the right way but I think

1:28.3

it's very important still to think in terms of a dog isn't an appropriate gift to

1:33.8

just give somebody for Christmas you'd like to think that it went without

1:38.2

saying these days but I don't think it does because it does still happen what
