There is a big word in the Bible, and it's righteousness,

and it's kind of a turnoff for some people because they automatically think of self-righteousness. It's not a bad thing. It's very, very good.

But one of the things, there's really deep meaning in the original Hebrew and the Greek and learn this from some smart people.

There's an element of it that means being willing to disadvantage yourself for the advantage of others.

Me, lower, you higher.

That's an element of righteousness.

Disadvantage myself.

Advantage others.

Well, Jesus comes along.

He's speaking.

He says, those who hunger and thirst for that will be called children of God.

Who hungers and thirst for the opportunity to disadvantage themselves? I mean, it's so counterintuitive. But you know what's awesome about that? It's good news,

because that is something we can get. He's not talking about something impossible. Like, if we grow up,

we start to actually hunger and thirst for the opportunity.

Even when things are really difficult, everybody else is panicking a little bit or things are

stressful instead of, I need to save myself and running around. Like, you start to think,

how can I disadvantage myself for the advantage of others? And it's weird. That can grow to become

a hunger and thirst. Like, this is what I want to be about.
