1 peter chapter 2 lord willing we're going to finish chapter 2 today last week we finished chapter 1

and so chapter 2 comes after chapter 1 we're out to a great start right so uh now i'll ask you to stand

but where you're seated is fine, especially because it's kind

of lengthy from verse 4 to verse 25.

So up to you if you want, you can stand, follow along.

By the way, the standing for the reading of God's word comes from Ezra in the Old Testament.

Just so you know, it's not, in case you were wondering,

if you were asking why we stand for the reading of God's Word. So now who's going

to sit after that, right? No, you can still. Okay, man.

All right.

The Apostle Peter, verse 4 by the Holy Spirit is writing and says, as you come to him, speaking

of Jesus, the living stone, rejected by men, but chosen by God and precious to him.

You also verse 5, like living stones are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy

priesthood offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

For in scripture it says verse six, see I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.

Now to you who believe this stone is precious, but to those who do not believe, the stone the

builders rejected has become the capstone.

And a stone, verse 8, that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.

They stumble because they disobey the message, which is also what they were destined for.

But verse 9, you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging

to God that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness

into his wonderful light.
