In the nearly five years that I've been doing our fake history, I've covered a huge

variety of topics.

And even though those topics have been very diverse, a number of common themes and ideas

have popped up again and again.

One of my favorite runners throughout this show has been the idea that history is an

amazing place to look if you're trying to find a really great band name.

The record store guy and me just cannot give up the quest for the perfect name.

But as we all know, a perfect band name is really about creating the perfect match between

the name and the style of music being played.

I love the band name mastodon, for instance.

But if they were playing ska, it just really wouldn't work.

Let me try a new band name on you.

The Budacon Destruction Horizon.

Doesn't that sound totally badass?

I feel like the Budacon Destruction Horizon would be a great name for like a post hardcore

band.

I'm thinking like a heavy three guitar attack with a healthy Fugazi influence.

Or maybe a band that's more on the progressive end of heavy metal.

They could be the Budacon Destruction Horizon.

Or even better.

Let's say someone out there took my suggestion from the King Arthur episodes and named their

band the Giants of Albion.
