Oftentimes, whenever we encounter a verse like 2 Timothy 2.26, where the devil is mentioned,

we cock our heads, perk up our ears, and struggle to make sense of it.

In 2 Timothy 2, starting in verse 24, we read,

The Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome, but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness.
