As we enter the new year, I've been reflecting upon which dating royalty will return to the Love Island villa.

Lovers from across the land will be hoping they get the call to be a Love Island All-Star

and share values of kindness, compassion and snogging.

I urge them to love thy neighbour on the next Sun Lounger

and hope that come January 13th on ITB2 and ITBX, love will reign supreme.

Welcome to Otherworld. I'm your host, Jack Wagner. This story comes from a woman named Angela, and it takes place in a time and location that,

quite frankly, I'm a little jealous of.

The year 1990 in the heart of Los Angeles.

This story takes place when Angela is a teenager, and she's attending Fairfax High School, which is one of those famous public high schools that seems to have been at the center of pop culture for a very long time. If you want to see what I mean, just go check out the famous alumni section of the Wikipedia page. I think you'll understand very quickly. Even though this story

is ultimately a sad one, I think it paints a really interesting picture of life as a teenager

in the late 80s and early 90s that I find so fascinating. A time long before cell phones and the internet took over everyone's lives.

And being a teenager meant something completely different.

I think you'll see that this story captures that in a few small but very special ways.
