The U17s opened their World Cup with a frankly embarrassing 4-1 defeat to Senegal.

Joining me to talk about this unfortunately for him is Chris Russell aka

underscore Watkey on Twitter who has been tracking a lot of these players in

USL over the past several months making videos I thought it'd be fun to bring in some

fresh blood and not to lean too hard on the unpaid labors of Matt Hartman and others.

Welcome, Chris. Well, thanks, Adam. It's good to be here. I wish it were under better circumstances, but you know that's American soccer and we do the best with what we have.

It's so true. Good circumstances are tough to come by these days. You know, hopefully Sirgenio Des gives us something to

celebrate tomorrow. I'm not counting on it. Are you? Oh, that's what we're all hanging on

for by a thread. Yeah. So we just pray. Keep praying through the night.

Yeah, well, big picture from my perspective,

I feel like I came into a little bit naive.

I thought we would be better than Senegal.

But I've been humbled.

It turns out we're not anywhere close to better than Senegal.

We're much worse.

I think we weren't good at passing or moving or defending.

So that's basically soccer.
