grand scheme of Elizabeth's foreign policy, this is a small piece, but it's one really

worth looking at in depth because she was so often inconsistent in her dealings with other

countries. And she also was with the Portuguese pretender, as we'll hear, but I think it really

underlied the calculating nature that she viewed these relationships with. So we're going to talk about that
