We all know looking from here, the Middle East is an absolute mess.

It's a tragedy in Syria and elsewhere.

For Israelis, that's very acute.

So Israelis are acutely aware of this mess going around them,

and they feel targeted by it.

They fear what happens if jihadists take over Gaza,

even more extreme than Hamas, but certainly also the West Bank should there be a deal.

All this is not conducive for someone talking about hope,

and reason, and change, and future, and it's much more conducive to someone saying,
