interview that I recorded a couple of weeks ago. Well I am so thrilled to welcome on to

our podcast Megan Chans who is the author of the just released book, Women Rising,

Learning to Listen, Reclaiming Our Voice. So Megan, thank you for being here.

Thank you for having me. I'm so excited to be here. So much of what you share in your book is something which I am, which just touches my heart and which I am so passionate about which is fighting sex trafficking. I mean, whenever I even think about sex trafficking. I mean whenever I even think about sex trafficking it's like my mind I just can't handle it. It's so terrible and I can't believe that you spent time on the mission field in this area. I don't know if I

emotionally could have handled that. So I'm wondering if you can just fill us in on

some of your background and then we'll get to some of the really interesting things

you're writing about.

Absolutely, yeah.

So I grew up in the conservative evangelical church

and wanted to like serve God the best way I knew how.

And as a woman, I had some limited options there so I chose to be a

missionary and when I was a missionary I had the opportunity to work with women who had been sex

traffics so I worked with women who had been sex traffics.

So I worked with women ranging, well,

so I also worked with women who had survived female genital mutilation

and women who are widows,

but primarily I worked with women who had been sex traffic primarily in Southeast Asia and so the bulk of my time is spent in both Thailand and the Philippines.
