Summary

It's one of the biggest American disasters you may never have heard of. On April 23, 1940, over 200 people died when the Rhythm Club caught fire in Natchez, Mississippi. But one of the most lethal fires America's ever seen has slipped through the cracks of history. (TW: This episode also features discussion of the tragic Pulse shooting in Orlando this past weekend.)

Before I start the podcast today, I'd just like to say a few words.

0:05.2

The first thing that I'd like to say is that normally at this point in the podcast, I say

0:09.2

that if you'd like to support the podcast, you can do so through Patreon or PayPal.

And one of the things about doing a podcast like this is that disasters constantly pop up

1:10.4

and the worst disasters that pop up for lack of a

1:14.9

better term at this point. The worst disasters that happen are these mass shootings because,

1:23.1

you know, regardless of the body count, we should be able to stop them, and we're not

1:28.2

stopping them. So I'm not really going to get too far into it just now, but I do want to talk

1:35.9

about it later on because I chose the subject matter for this podcast about three weeks ago.

1:41.6

And when the events on Orlando happened, things slowly started to change.

1:47.0

And I slowly started to, or quickly, to be more honest, started to see a pattern and started to see,
