This podcast is for those looking to train their own dog, whether as a companion,

therapy, or service dog. And I'm here to help you every step of the way. This is the puppy

Hi, thanks for listening in today. I'm going to talk about loose leash walking, and I'm going to teach you how to train a very young puppy, even from eight weeks old, how to walk on a leash.

Now, this is important because obviously we don't want to be walking around the block with our

0:36.6

dog ripping our arm off or

1:22.3

Anytime you follow your puppy and he's pulling, you're rewarding that pull. And dogs will do what serves them

1:29.4

or whatever works best for them. So if your puppy's pulling toward a bird or pulling towards the

1:35.1

bark and a bush or whatever he wants to go check out and you follow him, then he learns that

1:41.3

pulling works. So while we talk about this today, and I give you some tips and

1:46.1

tricks on how to do this, let's remember in the back of our minds that we never, ever follow a pulling
