Hello and welcome to this episode of So de Jerker-on songwriting.

Our guest today is the Grammy Award winning songwriter, artist, multimediaist,

designer, writer and director, Ali Willis.

Ali's another one of those songwriters that you might not immediately recognize by name,

but then you read the list of her songs and you realize that you've been listening to her work

pretty much your whole life.

That's right, and here's a small sampling.

With Earth Wind and Fire, Ali Willis has written or co-written songs

like Boogie Wonderland, September,

In the Stone, can't let go,

and let your feelings show. She co-wrote I'll be there for you the theme from Friends which was recorded by the Rembrandt of course.

She wrote Stear It Up for Patti La Bell and Neutron Dance for the Pointer Sisters, both of which were featured heavily in the colossal hit movie Beverly Hills Cop in 1984.

She was also a writer on another Dance Full Classic, I Shoulda Loved You by Naraa Michael Walden.

Cyrus and Lee said he'd like to live inside the bass break from that song.

And she also collaborated with the Pet Shop Boys on What Have I Done to Deserve This?

And to date, her songs have reportedly sold upwards of 50 million records.

It is an astonishing catalogue of songs to say the least.

Well we'll talk a little bit more about Ali in a moment but first is there any news you'd like to

Well today we were at the BBC Radio Studios in Liverpool to record an interview for a Sunday night music show that's broadcast from here.

We talked about our music, the growing success of the podcast and we also broadcast a few of our songs.
