I'm one of your hosts Alex West.

I am a writer for famous monsters of film land,

and I have my very own blog called Scare Tactic. With me is my other co-host, being

the co- and would you like to introduce yourself?

I can introduce myself. My name is Andrea Subasati. I'm a sociologist and I like to focus on the

cultural aspects of horror film. So I wrote a book on zombie mythology and I've contributed to a few magazines and websites and books but my

podcasting experience mostly came from the Rumorg podcast entirely came from the Rumorg

podcast now that I think about it and the first time I went on was to discuss my book and the second time I went on was to discuss the cultural aspects of I spit on your grave and to compare and contrast the movie with the remake and it was

very contentious and it was huge discussion so much so that we had to do we had to do a remake of the podcast and so yeah

I think podcasts are great and really neat and I'm really excited to launch this one.

So as you may have guessed from the title of this

podcast we are going to be dealing with the academic side of horror but I

promise in hopefully a very very fun way. We're going to take on some topics that come up time and again when we talk

about horror movies and just have a dialogue back and forth and see what kind of comments we

come up with. We do really encourage feedback so if you have any we can be reached at

faculty of horror at gmail dot com now one of the reasons I really got into the

academic side of horror and why I write about

horror is because we deal with one of the most interesting aspects of humanity when we talk

about horror movies, which to me is repression, how a repression manifests itself, why we're scared, how we get scared.

And I think it's probably the most interesting thing to write about and it's the most continually giving source of topics in my mind.
