Because this episode reviews Carrie and the nature of Carrie involves heavy bullying, I wanted to preface the podcast with a brief discussion about bullying.

As you know, bullying is as prevalent today as it was when Carrie was published in 1974.

In fact, with the ubiquity of social media, it has evolved into even more

mean-spirited and anonymous ways to hurt others. If you know someone who is being bullied,

don't hesitate to reach out to that person or inform someone that can do something about it.

Don't forget that any kind of action you take can help, and you'll never know the effect

of how you can help someone until you

try to. There are a number of resources to help victims of bullying, such as the Trevor Project,

the National Center for Bullying Prevention, Stop Out Bullying, and Stop Bullying.gov. If you have witnessed

bullying and wished to report it, there are a number of helpful websites that you can use to report

anonymous bullying, including Cyberbulley Hotline, and I'm going to spell the next one because

I won't be able to pronounce it correctly, S-P-R-I-G-E-O.com.
