Our first guest ever, Katie Huffman made her Broadway debut as a

replacement in the original production of La Caja Foe. After that, Katie was discovered and then

rediscovered by one Broadway legend after another, turning her into a legend in her own right.

Bob Fosse, her idol, cast her in what would be his last original show, The Musical Big Deal.

Next, it was Tommy Toon and Cy Coleman, who cast her in The Will Rogers Follies, which earned her first Tony nomination.

After that came the biggest break of her career when Mel Brooks cast her in the role of Ula and his new musical, The Producers.

The show was an immediate smash hit, winning a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards,

including one for Katie for Best Featured actress in the musical. Departing the show after two

and a half years, she branched out into television and film, and even became a recurring guest

judge for 10 seasons of Iron Chef America. She returned to Broadway last season in The Nance.

Up next, it's her one-woman show, and she can cook two, which premieres tomorrow night,

Tuesday, January 14th, at 54 below.
